Resin & Materials Supplier Engineering

Application Development and Failure Forensics That Get Your Resin Spec'd In

The resin doesn't win the program — the evidence does. ETS gives your applications, technical-marketing, and material-development teams the qualification data, application engineering, and failure analysis that OEM and Tier-1 design reviewers demand before your grade goes on a print. Forty years of production-program practice inside the same OEMs you're selling into.

What Actually Gets a Resin Spec'd In

A material approval isn't a datasheet comparison — it's a design conversation. The grades that win are the ones backed by application-level evidence: how the part behaves in its real environment, what fails and why, and what the qualification data proves. That evidence is engineered, not marketed.

📊

Material Qualification Data

Creep, fatigue, thermal cycling, chemical exposure, weld-line knockdowns — data generated the way OEM design reviewers actually consume it. We help you build the evidence package your grade needs to survive a design review, not just a brochure.

🧪

Application Development Support

Part-level development alongside your customers' engineers: metal-to-plastic conversions, material screening, and DFM feedback that demonstrates what your resin can do in a real part — the kind of consolidation plays that win SPE Automotive Innovation Awards.

🔍

Failure Forensics: Material vs. Design

When a part fails in the field, the first question is whose fault it is. Our failure analysis isolates material root cause from design and processing root cause — so a real material problem gets fixed before it costs you the program, and a design problem doesn't get blamed on your resin.

♻️

Recycled & Circular-Content Qualification

Recycled content is now a qualification problem, not a marketing claim. We help you qualify PIR, PCR, and chemically recycled grades with the same rigor OEMs apply to prime resin — mechanical-property deltas, lot variability, and process-window shifts.

🔗

Second-Source & Substitution Positioning

Supply disruptions and validated second sources are reshaping qualification across the industry — and every forced substitution is a chance for a new grade to earn a spec. We help you position your resin as the low-risk switch when the incumbent can't deliver.

🔄

Design-for-Recyclability Collaboration

The EU End-of-Life Vehicle Regulation is rewriting plastics sourcing — chemically recycled polyamide is already in production connectors, and foam-recovery processes are eliminating disassembly. We help your teams co-develop parts that meet recyclability targets without surrendering performance.

What Your Materials Team Takes Back

Our seminar, training, and consulting packages are built for supplier engineering and technical-marketing orgs that need working methods, not theory.

Live Seminar

Designing Plastic Parts for Assembly — 3 Days, 1,300+ Slides

The same structural-analysis, material-screening, and DFM decision tools your OEM customers' engineers use — case histories from Mercedes-Benz, BMW, GM, Chrysler, and Delphi production programs, taught by Paul A. Tres, SPE Fellow and author of the industry-standard text, now in its 10th edition. Your applications engineers learn to hold the design conversation that gets grades specified.

Consulting Retainer

Application Development & Qualification Data Support

Fixed-price design reviews and program support for the parts your grade is targeting: screening studies, DFM feedback your customer's molder will accept, and failure analysis that isolates material vs. design root cause before the dispute escalates to a warranty fight.

ETS Academy

Institutionalize the Method

100+ hours of structured training with monthly coaching, so every applications engineer, technical-marketing lead, and material developer in your organization works from one methodology — not just the two people who attended the seminar.

ChatETS

The Plastics Answer Engine, Free

Trained on 41 years of ETS failure data. Ask it about a creep allowance in a glass-filled PA66 boss, a weld-line knockdown in a POM retainer, or how recycled content shifts a process window — and get DFM-grade materials and failure answers in seconds. One real question, free, no credit card.

The Recycled-Content Wave Is a Qualification Problem — Be Ready for It

Suppliers of Dow's and Celanese's scale are already shipping the answer: recycled and circular content is moving from brochure to print. The grades that win the next round of approvals will be the ones whose qualification evidence survives an OEM design review.

Recycled Content Now Ships in Qualified Parts

Celanese's Zytel ECO-R line — PIR PA6/PA66 plus ocean-bound PCR PA6 — carries at least 30% recycled content by weight with up to 38% product-carbon-footprint reduction. BASF's Ultramid Ccycled polyamide, chemically recycled from post-consumer waste, is already molded into production TE Connectivity connector components. That's qualified, safety-relevant hardware — not a sustainability brochure.

Circularity Is Getting Engineering Teeth

The EU End-of-Life Vehicle Regulation is driving BASF's PA6 depolymerization and solvent-recycling pilots with ZF and Pöppelmann for Mercedes-Benz parts, and Dow's process with Gruppo Fiori that recovers end-of-life polyurethane foam without disassembly. Volvo's EX90 already carries roughly 50 kg of recycled and bio-based plastics. Every one of those programs needed someone to prove the recycled grade actually performs.

41 years of Failure Data Behind Your Grade

Our materials and failure-analysis practice comes from real production programs — Mercedes-Benz, BMW, GM, Chrysler, Delphi — not textbook tables. When your customer asks "why did it crack," your team answers with evidence, not a warranty position.

Recognition Your Engineers Trust

The SPE Automotive Innovation Awards are where material-supplier engineering gets recognized — Celanese took two awards plus a finalist in 2025 for Zytel-based part consolidation with Ford, Toyota, and GM. We track the winning material programs every year and teach the methods behind them.

Built for the people who decide

Whoever signs off, the answer holds up.

A material-qualification decision crosses four desks before it ships. Here is what ETS gives each of them.

Risk you can put a number on.

A fixed-price pre-tooling review starts at $3,500. One line of the failure ledger costs $10K–$75K once steel is cut. Seats, training and engineering hours can share a single annual agreement.
