PVC Weathering Seminar

October 15, 2013
University of Michigan - Dearborn Campus (click here for written directions)
19000 Hubbard Drive (Fairlane Center)
Dearborn, MI 48126-2638 USA
Room 110 North Building

Seminar Hours: 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (registration first day at 8:00 a.m.)

2-Day course offers in-depth discussions on weathering mechanism of PVC, chemical and physical aging, color retention, impact retention and dimensional stability of exterior application products; all variables effecting product performance, such as compound ingredients, process conditions, and the outdoor environment. It also includes detailed discussions on dimensional stability of vinyl building products, teaches how to achieve good dimensional stability through compound modification and product design. The course includes test methods and industry standards for exterior vinyl products.

PVC extrusion course provides in-depth information on PVC resin and formulation additives and their effect on vinyl compound processing. The course discusses twin vs. single screw extrusion, effect of processing conditions on surface appearance, impact strength and other properties of extruded product. Discussions also include the effect of compound manufacturing conditions and previous heat history of the pellets or recycled PVC on properties of extruded product and offers recommendations for successful use of recycled PVC. The course provides extrusion problem solving guide and much more.

Ideal Learner
This course is targeted at PVC compound manufacturing engineers, extruded product engineers, process engineers, product managers, project managers, research engineers, product development engineers and managers, product designers, undergraduate and graduate students or anyone involved in the development and manufacture of PVC compounds and products.

Its content is intended for a variety of industries, such as PVC compounding, construction, such as siding, windows, decking, fencing, roofing, pipe; consumer products, furniture, agriculture, medical and other industries which use PVC.
