Automotive Plastic Part Design

September 28-30, 2021

The
contents of this three day in-depth automotive seminar will provide information on material selection, design procedures, processing techniques, and the assembly methods required when designing with plastics in the automotive field.

Attendees will focus on what to expect from a polymeric material and discuss in detail how to make the design process as easy as possible and fully comply with FMVSS, for Hybrid, Fuel Cell, Electric and Gasoline/Diesel vehicles. A large number of automotive case histories will explain the step-by-step procedures to successful and robust designs: among them:

-   side rear quarter panel for Chevrolet Corvette C7

-   Mercedes-Benz E-Class engine cover

-   Dodge Nitro airbag

-   lumbar support system for Honda Accord

-   Comet 1 airplane window design from De Havilland

-   transmission support bracket for BMW 550

-   dental applicator Icon® made by DMG

-   GM's Quad 4 engine spin welding plug

-   windshield washer fluid bottle for the Mercedes  M-Class,

-   Volkswagen Sharan vibration welded air intake manifold

-   laser welded ignition key for E-Class

-   Magna's exterior door-handle with enclosed LED

-   300M fusible injection molded air intake manifold

-   living hinge design for Delphi's world class connector

-   Hewlett-Packard notebook's snap-fit

-   annular snap-fit design for a digital wrist watch

-   fatal snap-fit feature for Survivalink's external defibrillator

-   CCV — Chrysler Concept Vehicle — injection molded body

-   in-mold assembly for Honeywell's FitLogic safety glasses

-   C-Class tumble valve within the air intake manifold

Topics include:
